Situation:
A national consumer packaged goods company was challenged with providing a wireless solution for merchandisers, a remote workforce, in a new market within a short period of time. Merchandisers needed the ability to review inventory, place orders and update customer information from store locations.
Solution:
- Key data input for the wireless solution is exported from a business intelligence legacy system in text file format.
- Mobilelink.extend parses relevant data and pushes customer, order and forecasted inventory data to BlackBerry devices through the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) Mobile Data Service tunnel.
- Users can then review and update sales order and customer information via BlackBerry devices, in or out of coverage area.
- Saved data is posted back through the BES and Mobilelink.extend to the DMS system for processing.
Results:
The Mobilelink.extend solution streamlined the company's existing process and leveraged existing technology to provide better, more timely service to customers.
